Overview

Kosi Bay turtle nesting season

Kosi Bay turtle tours begin in November and continue until mid-March when the turtle nesting and hatching season comes to an end. Kosi Bay is the best place in South Africa to do a turtle tour because at Kosi Bay there is the highest concentration of turtles nesting anywhere along the entire African coastline.

On-foot tours only: No driving on the beaches is allowed at Kosi Bay and all the Kosi Bay Turtle Tours are by foot.

Ideal for

    • Nature lovers who want a rare, seasonal wildlife experience
    • Guests who prefer responsible, low-impact turtle viewing
    • Families and couples (speak to us if travelling with young kids)
    • Visitors staying in Durban, Richards Bay, St Lucia, Sodwana Bay, Mkuze or Manguze

What you can expect

Sea turtles come from hundreds, and in some cases thousands of kilometers away to nest at Kosi Bay because the area offers perfect turtle nesting areas and strict protection of the sea turtles and turtle eggs.

Kosi Bay Turtle Tours offer you the opportunity to view these ancient reptiles in their natural habitat during the only time of the year that the turtles leave the water.
